A Poem for You

Sometimes early in life we meet a person who just sets our hearts aglow.  However after a brief romance a separation ensues.  Flames of love have now seemed to be just embers barely able to maintain a glow.  Lives move on and time goes by.  Much later in life you stumble into that former sweetheart and realize that the ember has found the air.  A flame overcomes you both and love picks up as if time has stood still.

Never give up on the dying embers

The moonlight shines softly on her lovely red hair
The look in her eyes, the depth of her stare
Emotions are heated, passion runs high
The curve of her back, the touch of her thigh

The warmth of her kisses, fill a void from within
The parting of lips, the soft brush of skin
The aching to touch, the longing to hold
The smell of perfume, a fragrance unknown

Frustration and passion, a tumultuous mix
Neither forgiving, neither a fix
Time is a constant, an enemy so cruel
Passions worst enemy, frustrations best fuel

A mix of emotions, both good mixed with bad
For the most part it’s happy, though sometimes it’s sad
A thought of the others, send tensions up high
But with one look of love, the pain is denied

A freckle is spotted, a home there is found
Kisses placed gently, a body laid down
Touching so gently, pressing so firm
Opening a chapter, for new lessons learned

A book to be written, not today or the next
But over a lifetime, after passion and rest
One night at a time, for a moment or two
Our hearts will be open, our love will be true

Longing and waiting, life’s funny that way
Will it take thirty minutes, will it take thirty days
Will it take our lifetime before others know who we are
Or will it take us tearing our lives all apart

I’ll wait forever for the love that I have found
I’ll wait forever for those wedding bells to sound
I’ll be eighty years old, looking back at my life
With my eyes closed tightly, recalling that night
The moonlight shined softly on her lovely red hair
The look in her eyes, the depth of her stare
Emotions were heated, passion ran high
The curve of her back, the touch of her thigh
