My Friend

Not many things can make you feel special.  However, your horse will.  They can make you laugh and make you cry.  They are always willing to nudge you in the right direction even if you don’t know what direction that is.  When you put your head to theirs and look into their eyes, you know that there is a God and he is good.

For my horse loving friends

Lie across my shoulders and let me take you away

Close your eyes, I know where we are going

Listen to my heartbeat and sway with my movements

Feel the rhythm of my moves and follow in time

Run your fingers through my hair, I like that

Squeeze me with your legs, a hug of sorts

Know that you can tell me anything and I will listen

I will protect you against yourself

I have been yours since we first met

When I looked into your eyes and saw my heart

I knew that my life was yours

And I knew that yours was mine

So let me carry you through today

And ride me into tomorrow

Let me be your escape from the world

Let me be your reality

You can cry and I will not judge

Your tears will roll off of me

My reason to live is to carry your load

Place it firmly on my shoulders

Use me, I want you to

I need you just as much as you need me

I need your hands on my face and I need to see your eyes

I need you to talk to me, soft and soothing

I need you to listen, and hear me when I hurt

I need you to take care of me

By feeding me

By loving me

By nurturing me

I need you to share my soul

I need you to know that you are my world
