Greed in Grieving

Death knocks on all of our doors.  Some are made to answer sooner than others.  As the ones left behind we grieve for them, or do we?  We do grieve but it is because of our greed.  We want them, we need them, we miss them, so we grieve.  We are happy that they no longer are in pain or suffering.  We take solace in the fact that they knew God and are now singing in that great beyond.  They are with family and with friends, and we are happy.  Yet because of our greed, we still cry…………Continue Reading

I Miss You

I Miss You

How plans change in the blink of an eye. Forever doesn’t quite mean as much when your forever is taken from you. Memories haunt your dreams and places spark memories. There is nowhere to hide from the pain. The hurt eventually fades but the heartache will linger forever. Life moves on and loves come again but your forever was changed,

and that can never be taken back.

Would you plant that seed?

Would you plant that seed?

So you think you have to make tough choices? God had to make a choice to plant a seed that would eventually be used to hang his son. Could you make that same choice? We all have hard times and have to make tough decisions but try to keep it in perspective. God chose to sacrifice his only son so that we may live, so that we can be forgiven.

Would you plant that seed?

I Had a Dream

I had a dream this weekend of a revival, a neighborhood revival. It was awesome. One of the children said some nasty things to an adult from the neighborhood and, as a neighborhood, we took action. We sat this child down and talked with her. Then we prayed with her. What started off as parents coming together to right a wrong turned into a prayer session in front of our home. Soon other neighbors came and joined in prayer. We prayed that God would come into this child’s heart and show them that although the color of skin was different, our hearts were all red. My Time of Peace

My Time of Peace

All things must die.  However all things have the opportunity to live forever.  Death is but a gateway to memories and monumental discoveries.  It is hard to let go but just imagine the joy that your loved one is experiencing.  Life is short but an eternity with the ones that you love in the arms of God is going to be amazing.  That will be,

my time of peace.

No Regrets

No Regrets

When my father passed away at such a young age I was devastated.  He had several strokes years before and had just worn himself out.  He was ready to go home to be with God.  I found out about him losing his battle here on earth as I disembarked from a cruise that I had taken with my wife.  I got a call in the port that told me his life was coming to an end.  I did not make it home in time to say goodbye.  However every visit before that I would kiss him and tell him that I loved him.  We would talk and we would laugh.  My daddy knew how much I loved him and I knew how much he loved me.

I had written this after the death of my father in 2008.  I was reminded of it when a dear friend lost her grandmother yesterday so I brought it out.  After rereading it I realized that this could actually help others the way that it helped me.  I hope that it does.

There are no regrets here

I do not grieve for the dead and departed

I grieve for the conversations never started

I grieve for the missed hugs and missed kisses

For the family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas
