Who to Blame?

Who to Blame? We are always at a crossroad in our life.  Which road we choose, and why, determines our future. At what point do we stop blaming the past on the failures of today? Even the problems …

You Hurt My Feelings

Diversity, Acceptance, and Tolerance

These are great ideas that all people should aspire to integrate into their everyday lives.  Unfortunately, this will not happen according to some.  I want you to accept me and if you don’t then you are an evil, hateful, bigoted person.  I want us to be diverse in our group, as long as we are all the same in our group.  You need to be tolerant of my beliefs but I refuse to be tolerant to yours.  Continue Reading …………..

A Clearer View

What an awesome experience this last weekend was for not only our youth but for the adults as well. We went to a place in the world that most will never go, the slums of Ecuador. We did not actually travel to Ecuador rather we traveled to Lineville, Alabama to the S.I.F.A.T. (Servants in Faith and Technology) grounds for a 48 hour simulation of life in the slums of Ecuador. …… Continue Reading

Racism – A Learned Skill

Racism – A Learned Skill

There is no doubt in my mind that racism still exists. However one needs to be careful calling someone else a racist. Ask yourself whether it is racism or ignorance? There is a difference. When someone says those blasted Muslims, or all those black people, those whites, those anything of the sort, then they are racist. Regardless of color, race, gender, sexual orientation, or any other “qualifying” status that …….

A Tolerant Nation

To understand how tolerant our nation is one would have had to visit any other country. I have stepped foot on and had to live on every continent. I have been to countries where the slightest mis-movement of the hand can land you in jail. I have been to places where being gay was a capital offense. I have seen firsthand what freedom is by seeing what it is not. We are a tolerant nation.

I Owe You What?

So I was called racists today for not apologizing for whites owning slaves hundreds of years ago.  In fact when I asked the person who said that if their ancestors were slaves he said no but other black people were so therefore it affected him.  Really?

Extortionists

Extortionists

I abhor the comments that Donald Sterling, owner of the Clippers, said regarding race.  He is a true bigot that needs help.   His girlfriend should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for taping him inside of his home as well.  Imagine for a moment that during a conversation with your significant other in the privacy of your home, being scripted and recorded as extortion material.  Now imagine them selling that information to someone who will intentionally use it to harm you.  We have all said things in the privacy of our homes that we would not want others to hear, hopefully not what Mr. Sterling said, but something.  I am not defending him at all, but remember this is all out there because his girlfriend broke the law in order to profit from this conversation.  They are both wrong.

I Miss You

I Miss You

How plans change in the blink of an eye. Forever doesn’t quite mean as much when your forever is taken from you. Memories haunt your dreams and places spark memories. There is nowhere to hide from the pain. The hurt eventually fades but the heartache will linger forever. Life moves on and loves come again but your forever was changed,

and that can never be taken back.

Would you plant that seed?

Would you plant that seed?

So you think you have to make tough choices? God had to make a choice to plant a seed that would eventually be used to hang his son. Could you make that same choice? We all have hard times and have to make tough decisions but try to keep it in perspective. God chose to sacrifice his only son so that we may live, so that we can be forgiven.

Would you plant that seed?

Unworthy

There is always a worry lingering that one day I will wake up from this dream. If I do will she still be there? Will she still care? How can someone so beautiful love someone so broken? How can she not see what I see? When she realizes that the souls of her feet hold more beauty than my entire being, will she still love me?

Sometimes the dreams are so real it’s scary.

When you touch me I cry

Because I am unworthy of such love

Because I am undeserving of such peace
