Many people fly the Confederate flag as a symbol of their past. Some people fly the flag simply because they live in the south and the flag to them symbolizes southern pride. Others fly the flag as a symbol of their southern heritage.

I Owe You What?

So I was called racists today for not apologizing for whites owning slaves hundreds of years ago.  In fact when I asked the person who said that if their ancestors were slaves he said no but other black people were so therefore it affected him.  Really?

Bricks

While visiting Savannah we saw the bricks. SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) is saving them and rebuilding areas built with blood. Buildings that were made with the bricks made by slaves are now being preserved for future generations to see and remember. A lasting reminder that life is not fair and that bad things happen. But even more, these bricks serve as a reminder that we should never let this kind of atrocity happen again.

Thankfully, a time not forgotten
