Life is not always about the paycheck. You can always earn a living, but what god is it without a life.
Priorities, where are yours?
She drinks whiskey for breakfast, and he’s never noticed
He kisses her cheek, and he runs out the door
He’s gone for a week, and she’s left there crying
For the man that she loves, and a love that’s gone wrong
He flies off to Phoenix, for the love of the paycheck
To give her the life, and that he promised he would
but at bedtime she calls him, and he doesn’t answer
And as he misses her call, she starts crying again
She cries for her lover, her bestfriend, her husband
She cries for the memories, that have faded in time
She cries as she sleeps, with no one beside her
And that no one will notice, the tears left behind
She can’t count the times, that she’s tried to tell him
Of the longing and wanting, she’s missing in life
And he tells her he’s trying, but that they can talk later
Because he has to leave, or he’ll be missing his flight
And she cries for her lover, her bestfriend, her husband
She cries for the memories, that have faded in time
She cries as she sleeps, with no one beside her
And that no one will notice, the tears left behind
He comes home on Friday, and her closets well they’re empty
Her old tear stained pillow, on his bed still lies
He tries to call her, but she doesn’t answer
And he doesn’t notice, the tears left behind
She cried for her lover, her bestfriend, her husband
She cried for the memories, that had faded in time
She cried as she slept, with no one beside her
And that no one would notice, the tears left behind
And he didn’t notice, the tears left behind
